Bordering on the Isère « département », at the gates of Provence ; the Trièves is one of the last preserved regions of the Dauphiné.

Here, on this territory which Giono described as a « cloister of mountains », the landscape and villages have remained in a remarkable state of authenticity.

During any season, there is something to discover ! Nature lovers will find :

At Springtime there are fields of Lys Martigon. An attentive eye will spot the rare Sabots de Vénus orchid, one of more than 20 varieties in the area.
During Summertime, the temperate climat of the moderately elevated mountains, makes hiking easy for all. Close by, there are many tourist and recreational activities which will guarantee you a singular voyage into the heart of a preserved environment.
In the Fall there is mushroom picking and the call of the stag through the multi-colored leaves of the forest enhanced by the crystal clear light of warm days.
With the Winter, comes skiing, cross-country and downhill. Then there’s snowshoeing and tracking animal prints…

For those interested in recreational activities and hiking :
The area offers a large choice of hikes of all levels and difficulties. There is also horseback riding, mountain biking, with or without a guide ; rock climbing, canoeing/kayaking, paragliding, wind surfing, fishing, and even bungee jumping ! The himalayan walkways suspended over the Monteynard lake will make your sensational day. Last, but not least ; a breath-taking hike around the Mont Aiguille, considered the beginning of alpinism by its ascent in 1492, will complete your visit.

For example : the « Terre Vivante » centre in Mens, the old fashion train of La Mure, the La Mira ship (navigation on the Monteynard lake), the Vizille château and its museum on the french revolution, the St. Michel-les-Portes Adventure Park, the himalayan walkways over the Monteynard lake, the Champollion museum in Vif, plus many other wonders indeed !
